Free Instagram Tools
Six tools for saving and reading public Instagram posts. Reels, videos, photos, whole carousels, audio as MP3, and the caption with its hashtags counted. No account, no app and no daily limit.
Instagram Reels Downloader
Paste a reel link and save it as an MP4 with the original sound. The audio track can also be pulled out on its own as an M4A file.
Instagram Video Downloader
Built for feed videos and IGTV as well as reels. Saves the highest resolution Instagram serves, with sound, plus the cover frame as a separate JPG.
Instagram Photo Downloader
Saves pictures at the full size Instagram stores them at, not the shrunk version you see in the feed. Handles single posts and carousel slides.
Instagram Carousel Downloader
For posts with several slides. Every slide is listed with a tick box, photos and videos together, and you can save one or take the whole set as a numbered ZIP.
Instagram to MP3
Pulls the sound out of a reel or video and gives you a real MP3, converted inside your browser. The untouched M4A is offered alongside it if you prefer the original.
Instagram Caption Extractor
Copies the caption as plain text and splits the hashtags and mentions out of it, with character, word and emoji counts against Instagram's real limits.
Every tool here reads the same link formats. If you are not sure which one to open, start with the reels downloader and it will still handle photos and carousels.

Pick the right tool for the link you have
All six tools share one engine, so any of them will read any public Instagram link. What differs is what each one puts in front of you first. Paste a photo carousel into the reels downloader and it still works, you just get a layout tuned for video rather than for pictures. This table is the shortcut.
| What you are holding | Best tool | What you get back |
|---|---|---|
| Reel linkinstagram.com/reel/… | Reels Downloader | MP4 with sound, audio as M4A, cover image |
| Feed video or IGTVinstagram.com/p/… or /tv/… | Video Downloader | Highest available MP4, sound, cover frame |
| Single photoinstagram.com/p/… | Photo Downloader | Full size JPG, no crop, no resize |
| Mixed carouselphotos and videos together | Carousel Downloader | Every slide listed, save one or take all as a numbered ZIP |
| You only want the soundany reel or video link | Instagram to MP3 | MP3 encoded in your browser, or the original M4A |
| You only want the wordsany post link | Caption Extractor | Caption as text, hashtags and mentions split out, counts |
| Share linkwith ?igsh= on the end | Any of the six | The tool strips the tracking part on its own |

What every tool on this page has in common
No account, ever
You never sign in to Instagram, and you never sign up on Calcxi either. There is no login wall waiting three downloads in.
Files come through untouched
Videos and photos are the same files Instagram serves, passed straight through without being compressed again. The one exception is the MP3 option, because Instagram does not store MP3 at all, so that file has to be encoded. Choose the M4A instead and even the audio is the untouched original.
No watermark is added
Calcxi does not stamp anything on your download. Many free sites burn their own logo into the corner. This one does not.
No daily limit
Paste one link or forty. There is no counter, no cooldown timer, and no paid tier that unlocks a higher number.
Works on every device
The tools run in any modern browser, so iPhone, Android, Windows, macOS and Linux all behave the same. No app to install.
Files are not kept
Files stream from Instagram's servers to your device, passing through only to be given a proper file name. Calcxi does not store a copy of what you saved and does not build a history of it.
Limits
What these tools will not do
Most download sites stay quiet about their limits and let you find out by pasting a link that fails. It is more useful to say it plainly, so here is the honest list.
Private accounts do not work
If a profile is set to private, its posts are not public data, and no tool can reach them without being logged in as an approved follower. Any site claiming otherwise is either lying or asking you to hand over your password.
Stories are not supported
The tools read posts, reels and IGTV. Story URLs use a different structure and expire in a day, so they are outside what these six cover.
A watermark that is part of the frame cannot be removed
If a creator uploaded a video that already had a TikTok logo or their own handle burned into the picture, that is pixels in the video itself. Removing it would mean editing the footage. This point is covered in more detail in the guide on downloading reels without a watermark.
A profile link on its own does nothing
Pasting instagram.com/username will not pull that account's whole feed, and it will not return follower counts or engagement numbers either. Each tool needs a link to one specific post or reel, because a profile address does not point at any single piece of media.
Comments are not included
The caption extractor reads the caption the creator wrote, which is part of the post itself. Replies underneath it are separate records and are not pulled in.
Fair use
Before you download someone else's post
Saving a public post for your own viewing is a very different thing from taking a creator's work and posting it as your own. The first is what these tools are for. The second is a copyright problem no matter which website you used to get the file, and it is also the fastest way to get an account struck.
Audio deserves a sentence of its own, because it trips people up more often than video does. Pulling a track out with Instagram to MP3 gives you a file, not a licence. Music on a reel is usually licensed to Instagram rather than owned by the person who posted it, so reusing that sound elsewhere can be a problem even when keeping it for yourself is not.
If you are planning to reuse something in your own content, ask the creator first, and credit them either way. The full picture, including where the line actually sits, is in the guide on whether downloading Instagram reels is legal. If your own work has ended up somewhere on this site, the DMCA and copyright policy explains how to get it removed.

FAQ
Free Instagram Tools: FAQs
Do I need an Instagram account to use these tools?
+
No. You do not log in to Instagram and you do not create an account on Calcxi. The tools read what Instagram already shows to anyone who opens the link in a browser, which is why they only work on public posts and never on private ones.
Are these tools really free, or is there a hidden limit?
+
They are free with no counter attached. There is no third download that suddenly asks for an email, no paid tier, and no queue that slows you down after a while. The site is paid for by ads on the page, not by limiting what the tools do.
Which tool should I use if I only want the sound?
+
Instagram to MP3. Paste the same reel or video link and it gives you an MP3, encoded inside your browser because Instagram does not store MP3 files. It also offers the M4A, which is the exact audio track Instagram serves with no conversion at all. The M4A is the better file if the app you are moving it into will play one.
What is the difference between the photo and carousel tools?
+
Both open the same posts. The photo downloader is built around one picture at a time and shows it large. The carousel downloader is built for posts with several slides, so it lists every slide with a tick box, keeps photos and videos in the order they were posted, and can pack the whole set into a single numbered ZIP.
Do the downloads have a watermark on them?
+
Calcxi adds nothing to your file. The only watermark you can end up with is one the creator put into the video before uploading it, such as a TikTok logo or their own handle. That is part of the picture and cannot be taken out by any downloader.
Can I download from a private account?
+
No, and that is on purpose. A private profile's posts are not public data, so reaching them would mean logging in as an approved follower. Any site that promises private downloads is either not telling the truth or trying to collect your Instagram password.
Do these tools work on an iPhone?
+
Yes, in Safari and in Chrome, with no app and no shortcut to install. iOS saves the file to the Files app or to Photos depending on the type, and the guide on downloading reels to your phone walks through where each one lands.
Does Calcxi store the videos and photos I download?
+
No. The file streams from Instagram's servers to your device and is only passed through on the way so it arrives with a proper file name. Nothing is saved on this site, there is no library of past downloads and no record tying a link back to you.
Public posts only
The tools read what Instagram shows to anyone who opens the link. Private accounts and stories are out of reach by design.
Original files
Videos and photos arrive exactly as Instagram serves them. Only the optional MP3 is encoded, in your browser.
Privacy
No login, no account and no history of what you saved. Links you paste are not tied to you.
Respect creators
Save for personal use and credit the creator. Reposting someone else's work needs their permission.
